Verðandi.
Privacy
The short, plain version. Last updated 28 September 2026.
Verðandi is in a small, invite-only trial run by Adrian. There are no ads, no analytics
and no tracking. Your writing is shown only to the people you write it with. Nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
What Verðandi keeps
- Your account: your email, your display name, and your password — stored only as a scrambled hash that
can’t be turned back into the password. If you turn on two-factor, its secret is stored encrypted and your recovery
codes are stored as hashes.
- Your profile: whatever you choose to add — a line about you, where your pin sits, languages, threads, samples.
- Your writing: your stories, every version of them (that’s how nothing is ever lost), comments, openings and pacts.
- Sign-in records: when each session started and was last active, so you can sign out everywhere.
- What you send Adrian: questions and problem reports from Sága’s bubble, with the screen you were on.
- Error reports: if a page breaks while you’re signed in, your browser sends the error message, the page, and
your browser’s name and version, so it can be fixed. No writing is included.
Who can see what
- Your stories: only the people in that story’s collaboration.
- Other writers: your public profile (display name, the line about you, your pin if you set one) and any opening you
post. Your email is never shown to them.
- Adrian, as the admin: the list of accounts (email, whether it’s verified, whether two-factor is on, when it was
last active, which invite it came from), your questions and problem reports, and error reports. As the person running the
service he can technically reach the database; he does so only to keep it working or fix a problem you’ve raised.
Services Verðandi relies on
- Railway hosts the app and its database, and keeps standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) for a short time.
- Resend delivers the emails: verification, password reset, and the daily “your turn” email.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr serve the typefaces and icons on most pages, so they see a request from your browser.
- Anthropic — only if the writing bots are switched on (they are off today). The text of a story you write with a
bot is sent to Anthropic’s Claude so the bot can reply. Stories without a bot are never sent.
Cookies and browser storage
One cookie keeps you signed in. Your browser also remembers your light/dark choice and how far you got in Sága’s
tour. That’s all — no tracking cookies.
Emails
You’ll get a verification email, a password-reset email if you ask for one, and at most one “your turn” email a
day when something is waiting for you. Every daily email has a link to stop them.
Leaving, or deleting your data
Ask Adrian (use Questions → Ask Adrian in Sága’s bubble, or reply to any Verðandi email) and he will
delete your account and profile. Writing in a story you share belongs to that story too, so for shared stories he’ll
check with you and your co-writers about what stays.
Changes
This is a trial, so this page will change as Verðandi does. Anything significant will be announced to everyone taking part.
